An exciting new Scotch Whisky Pop Up Bar is set to open in the heart of Glasgow’s City Centre on 15th November.

The Love Scotch Malt Shop & Cocktail Counter is the brainchild of Kained Holdings Marketing Manager, and Former Head Bartender at The Finnieston; James Kemp and Diageo Scotch Whisky Ambassador Ervin Trykowski.

Love scotch pop up bArThe Pop-Up will reside in The Riverhill Restaurant on West Nile St and will be open Wed-Sun 4pm-12midnight, running right up until Christmas Eve…Eve.

Kemp outlines their reasons for opening the Pop-Up:
‘Erv and I have worked together for over 5 years now in lots of different capacities, and we both see Scotch Whisky as an outstandingly diverse spirit category, suited to be enjoyed in many different ways. We’re sure we’ll get into plenty of debate while we’re open, but at the end of the day, we all have the same goal: helping to grow Scotch and it’s popularity at home in any small way we can! We’re consciously making an effort to be very contemporary with our offer and look in an attempt to break the mould and move away just a little bit from the age old tartan biscuit tin perception of Scottish Whisky; maintaining the deepest of respect for the heritage of our national bevy!’

Whilst Trykowski shares in the enthusiasm:
“This is going to be as far from a traditional whisky bar as you can possibly imagine! Our goal is to make whisky fun and bring it to a wider audience. Throughout the world people make whisky their own and add local ingredients and i think it about time to bring some of that attitude to Scotland and make our twist on our national spirit. In the Pop up you will see drinks using the most modern techniques, Djs playing non scottish music and people having a (Hopefully) an amazing time! COME SEE US!”

Whisky lovers can expect some pretty interesting cocktails showing off the diversity of the category, whisky serves, bar bites (including bugs ‘n’ barley!) as well as a new way of categorising whisky, colour-coding the whiskies depending on characteristics rather than region. Around 40 whiskies will be available with mixers, straight and by the bottle to take home as a perfect Christmas Gift!
