MLOne, Motherwell College Training Restaurant – May 2010

After a recommendation, we booked a table at ML One, the training restaurant for Motherwell College.  After a bit of a detour (not knowing that they had built a big grand spanking new college!) we arrived at a funky looking restauring amidst the chaos of the food court outside.  The door closed behind us and all was quiet, apart from the hubbub of happy dinners inside.

The area is kitted out just as a real restaurant with a reception desk and attendee.  We were shown to our seat, given some menus and some lovely cold water with lemon as well as a selection of home made breads, still warm and fluffy.The service was great considering these kids are just learning, and they were friendly and attentive too.

We started with a St Clements Cocktail (£2.50 non alcoholic Orange juice and bitter lemon) and  a Jolly Rancher ( £3.00 vodka, midouri, peach schnapps and cranberry juice) both were delicious.

The menu changes monthly and depending on which day of the week you are visiting, it is listed on their website.

We decided to plump for:-

Summer Fruit Cocktail of galia melon, kiwi fruit and pineapple with lime sorbet and a pan fried sandwich of cheese, red onion and pickle serves with mescalun salad leaves

then onto steak pie as well as pan seared filled of Atlantic cod and slow roasted pork belly trickled with dark molasses

we ended with a cheese plate and key lime pie with white wine sabayon glazed raspberries.

We both agreed it was a very nice meal, good portions, quality and excellent service.  All for a cost of £25.70.  We certainly shall be back!
