Bagpipes and time make excellent wine
With the eyes of the world on our hometown of Glasgow this November for the global climate conference COP 26, it would seem like an ideal time to focus on winemakers who are doing their bit to reduce their carbon footprint and be more sustainable, and one such producer is Bruce Jack. Although Bruce is South African he does have Scottish links, his mum was from the island of Tiree in the Inner Hebrides, and there is an unusual musical connection between his wine and Scotland. Read on to find out more...
Over two Thursday evenings in November (18th and 25th), you will get to virtually meet winemaker Bruce Jack and taste six of his excellent wines, which you may have seen in Tesco, Sainsburys or Asda but on this tasting Daily Brew Pinotage, Over the Moon and Moveable Feast are included, which you are unlikely to find in supermarkets. The last two also both retail for around £18.

The wines
The full six bottles provided are below. Vivino wine app scores out of 5 are in brackets, generally, a score of 3.5 and above signifies high-quality wine.
Whites:
- Bruce Jack Lifestyle Chenin Blanc (3.5)
- Bruce Jack Reserve Sauvignon Blanc (3.6)
- Bruce Jack Reserve Chardonnay (3.6)
Reds:
- Bruce Jack Lifestyle Daily Brew Pinotage (3.5)
- Bruce Jack Drift Estate Over the Moon Unfettered Red Blend (3.7)
- Bruce Jack Moveable Feast Red Blend (4.2)
Bruce produces wine with a careful, but also eccentric touch, for example, he employs a Pipe Major to play the bagpipes to his wine barrels (look for the piper on the Moveable Feast label)! Since the music travels through the molecules in the wine it helps them develop, or say he says, but we're looking forward to sampling these as we're not aware of drinking bagpipe-infused wine before!
