Magnum: churn to a new cream liqueur this Xmas
It’s the time of year for comforting and warming drinks. A traditional Christmas drinks purchase is a whisky cream liqueur, such as Baileys but this year we are trying Magnum Cream Liqueur (no relation to the ice cream company). Whisky cream liqueurs might conjure up images of your grandparents sitting in the corner getting merry, but don’t dismiss this beverage. Have some poured over ice, sipped neat, splashed into some coffee, or blended into a milkshake.
Magnum Cream Liqueur is a Scotch Malt Whisky Cream Liqueur and the regular 70cl size comes in a milk churn canister, so the packaging looks good, just like the contents inside! The drink is a marriage of single malt Scotch whisky from BenRiach distillery and Dutch cream. BenRiach is a whisky distillery in the Speyside area of Scotland and has been producing whisky since 1898.
The Speyside whisky balances well with the luxurious cream. We drank some with ice and were surprised by the caramel and chocolatey flavours. The use of Scotch Whisky compared with Irish Whisky is noticeable. It seems to have more layers of flavour from nutmeg to butterscotch with a longer lasting taste at the end. This is a drink that we are very fond of, as is Fred our cat!
17% ABV, this product contains milk and is not to be mixed with carbonated drinks. Best served chilled.
