Little Bay, 159 Farringdon Road, London – April 2011

Looking like someones run amok in a decorating store the Little Bay doesn’t win top style awards but it certainly makes up for it on price.  Normally £3.95 for starters and £8.95 for mains (yes in london!) until the end of September the starters are £1.98 and £4.48 respectively, a bargain.

Service is quick, friendly and unobtrusive.  Cocktails on offer at £5, with healthy amounts of alcohol.

Choux de crab, with ginger, chillies and citrus hollandaise

Flavoursome starter, could have been more “crabby” but at the price, who is complaining!

Smoked salmon terrine with salad and toast

Very thick slice, tasty salmon could have done with more herby flavour.

Aberdeen Angus burger

Other half was very impressed with the burger, very tasty.  Very meaty.

Duck breast with red cabbage and duck en croute

Would have been much nicer without the stodgy en croute addition.  duck very nicely cooked, would have preferred more pink but otherwise moist.

Desserts were all priced at £1.98 instead of £3.95.  We plumped to share the pistachio and white  chocolate parfait.  Tasty base however the parfait wasn’t smooth, filled with ice crystals 🙁

Total bill was £34.18 including 3 cocktails and a glass of port.
