Creamy, fishy and Fred approved!
It’s still cold so more soup! This time The Hebridean Food Co. smoked salmon chowder at Lidl (£1.69). Will it be as spicy as the crab and sweetcorn chowder?
Again, clean packaging with good branding.
There's a strong smoked salmon aroma so Fred’s nose was twitching. It's not as thick as some chowders but still provides a filling bowlful. Thankfully for me there was no chilli in this one to surprise me - phew!! Instead, it's more like a creamy Cullen skink-type soup with a lighter fishy taste provided by the smoked salmon (rather than haddock).
Lunch was over far too soon, it’s one of those soups needed on a cold day that you could quite happily make your way through a couple of bowlfuls. The empty bowl was soon checked over by Fred for any soupe left ehich could be mopped up so thumbs up from me and a big lick to the bowl from Fred too. 🐈
TL;DR
+ Looks good
+ Tastes good
+ Fred approved
