Review : Festival food at Hard Rock Cafe

Hard Rock Cafe Festival 2020 nacho dog

Street food and vibes at HRC now!

As we’re sadly missing out on music festivals this year, Hard Rock Cafe want to bring a little slice of summer with their street food style festival menu.  The menu includes mouth-watering dishes such as Buffalo-style Sliders, Let’s Get Twisted Mac & Cheese Fries, Honey Soy Wings, Southwest Taco and Nacho Dog.  Plus, Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow also have summer style cocktails on the menu, including Fresh Agave Margarita, Blueberry Cosmo cocktail, Aperol Spritz from £5.25.

Pick 2 dishes for £15, 3 for £20 or 4 for £25 from the sharing small plates.

We checked out the new Hard Rock Cafe Festival 2020 menu at their Glasgow restaurant.

L-R – Blueberry Cosmo Cocktail – vodka, elderflower liqueur topped with sparkling soda; Aperol Spritz  – Aperol, sparkling wine and soda finished with a fresh orange slice and Dark & Stormy – Rum, lime, agave nectar finished with Fever-Tree ginger beer. Our favourite was the dark & stormy.

Two types of taco here – Southwest Taco which is grilled chicken breast, cheddar and jack cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, smoky chipotle aioli and topped with coriander.  BBQ Pineapple Taco – grilled BBQ pineapple, cheddar and jack cheese, spicy slaw, pickled onions and BBQ sauce.

Hard Rock Cafe Festival 2020 sliders

Two sets of sliders to try  – Buffalo Style Sliders: two grass-fed mini burgers with a large crispy onion ring, classic buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing. All-American Sliders: two grass fed mini burgers with melted American cheese, crispy onion ring and creamy coleslaw.

Hard Rock Cafe Festival 2020 mac and cheese fries

Top – Crispy Spring Rolls: flauta / taquito style rolls filled with black beans, roasted corn, Monterey Jack cheese, red peppers and jalapenos.

Bottom – Let’s get twisted Mac and Cheese Fries: crispy fries topped with four cheese twisted mac and cheese, blue cheese crumble, diced jalapenos, bacon, spring onions and buffalo sauce.

Verdict

If you head to Hard Rock Cafe with empty bellies they will soon fill up.  We shared a selection of tasty dishes between three and still had to take a doggy bag home – and even later we struggled to finish everything!  There’s a good selection of dishes, with plenty of spices and summery flavours so this is a great excuse for catching up with friends in COVID-19 times. Toilets checked, which were clean but the hand dryers in the gents weren’t on (possibly a COVID-19 measure) and hand towels were running low.

TL;DR

+ Massive portions
+ Well-priced cocktails
+ Can take a doggy bag home for later eating

– Male toilets possibly need more regular checks
