Happy Birthday The Pot Still

The Pot Still Is 5 years Old!!!

No visitor to Glasgow can count their trip complete without a visit to The Pot Still in Glasgows Hope Street.

Established in 1835, the current pub took its name 35 years ago., with Big Frank running what we all know and love as The Pot Still for the last five years.

So now it is with great pleasure that Foodie Explorers wish Frank and his crew a very happy fifth birthday on Saturday 26th November 2017… may you have many many more.

So whats in store… well Saturday 26th will be party night. Soup is in the pot and there are mountains of sausage rolls hiding behind the soup. So a grand night is planned.  And to drink there will be Strathfaff…. not a familiar whisky, but a unique blend created each year from the golden drops left in each of the many bottle sold annually. Taste it soon…  it will never exist again.

The Pot Still is famed for its second to none whisky gantry. But as the days get colder you might need more than a dram to warm you. Great news then that The Pot Still also has a braw selection of homemade pies, sandwiches and a hearty soup yer granny would be proud of. Just the thing to escape from all that Christmas shopping we all just love.

So for Saturday 26th a special invite to anyone who has worked (or drank) in The Pot Still over the years. Drop by if you are in town on Saturday or over the festive season. You are sure of a warm welcome and a great dram. And Happy Birthday once again to one of Glasgow’s greatest pubs.

Old Father Foodie spent over 20 years working as a chef in and around the Glasgow area. He watched the rise of Lambrusco, the demise of the steak house and still remembers life before Mcdonalds.

He then spent many years working on education projects in Europe. Still a keen cook, he has picked up the odd tip or two along the way and now enjoys sharing them on these pages.
