About Haar and Chef Dean Banks
Haar has been open since 2019 and is headed by Chef Dean Banks. After growing up in the fishing town of Arbroath, Dean travelled the world learning to cook and experience life, which included training at Rick Stein’s The Seafood Restaurant. Returning to Scotland, Dean entered Masterchef The Professionals where he advanced to the final 3 of the 2018 show. Using this showcase as a springboard, Dean then opened up Haar within Kinnettles Hotel in St. Andrews.
Haar is the romantic name given to seaside fog. Mysterious and intriguing, is this a reflection on Chef’s food? We shall see.
Order and Delivery
Ordering is easy with a few clicks to order whatever package you desire, be it lobster linguine and wine, land and sea or as we did, the Haar at Home luxury lobster and crab box. Click the date you wish to enjoy your meal, add any extras you wish such as Haar at Home cocktails or some freshly made artisan bread and pay, as simple as that.
The food arrives expertly packed in a chilled insulated box. Each element of the dish is packed separately and labelled for easy identification. Instructions are available by scanning the QR code in your box, you can also view allergen information as well online.

Verdict
This is the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary or a general treat to get out of the lockdown doldrums. You could even send as a gift to family or friends as a gift given current lockdown advice. This is superb quality food which just needs a little cooking to create a restaurant-quality exeperience without going out. The only downside is that you need to do the dishes afterwards! With nationwide delivery, we can all re-create Haar, only at home.
