Description

Learn about woodland, hedgerow and coastal plants and early fungi in a 2 hour walk covering about 1 mile.

There will be wild treats and tasters to enjoy throughout and afterwards we will enjoy an al fresco cook-in of our finds and some wild food from further afield, whilst laying out our finds and focussing on key features of accessible species.

Family friendly – easy walking for all ages

Learn:

Spring/Summer hedgerow, woodland and coastal plants (30+ species). Finding, identification, poisonous lookalikes, mindful harvesting, expert tips, folklore/traditional uses, modern gourmet/medicinal uses, nutrition, processing, recipes, cooking tips, how to avoid pollution.

Bring:

Stout footwear, waterproofs, water. Your learning and enjoyment may also benefit from bringing camera, notebook, field guide (plants), small basket/cloth bag.

Please note: there are no public toilets or indoor shelter at this location.

Hello!

I am Emma and with my husband Mark write Foodie Explorers, which is a food and travel website.

I am a member of the Guild of Food Writers and British Guild of Travel Writers.

We have a wide range of judging experience covering products, hotels and have judged, for example, for Great Taste Awards and Scottish Baker of the Year.

Along the way Mark gained WSET Level 2 in Wine and I have WSET Level 2 in Spirits as well as picking up an award with The Scotsman Food and Drink Awards.
