Foodie Pen Pals Month 4

My email pal  in Amsterdam sent me this great parcel of Dutch Christmas goodies.

Kruidnootjes – spiced nuts – or really little cookies to celebrate Sinterklaas holiday on 5/6th December in the Netherlands.

Speculaas cookies – spiced shortbread style biscuit, again to celebrate Sinterklaas on 5/6th December.

Stroopwafeltjes – syrup waffles – I love these, great when you stick them on top of your hot choc or coffee just let the heat melt it a bit. NOM!  Seemingly originated in Gouda in the 18th/19th Century.  In 1960 Gouda had 17 factories to make the waffles, now just 4.

and some warming winter teas – Morrocan Mint and Turkish Apple.  Looking forward to trying all these.

Cats were also  impressed by the box, so much so that Fred turned on his laser beams to protect the contents.
