Don’t miss the Milngavie Food and Drink Festival

31st August – 1st September 2018

 

The Milngavie Food and Drink Festival is back and will kick off at 5 pm on Friday 31st August with a town centre ‘gathering’ which will include a ceilidh band for some outdoor dancing and the Scottish folk band ‘Heron Valley’. The evening bar will be provided by Scottish Microbrewers Jaw Brew and local bar Finsbay offering a selection of Scottish Gins.  The firedog hot dog van will be on hand to provide hot dogs to the hungry crowd.

On Saturday 1st September Celebrity Chef and Masterchef winner, Gary MacLean will be doing a cooking demonstration at 430pm using the finest ingredients from local fishmonger Fantoosh Fish. Two lucky winners will then be served the foodie delights in a magical dome!

‘The Great Milngavie open mic stage’ from 1.30pm – 3.30pm which will feature up and coming acts and also the wonderful Christine Bovill, The Acoustic Butterflies and finishing the evening with the Shiverin Sheiks.

Saturday’s event will combine some of the best local food and drink businesses, such as a gin bar from Finsbay, Wine and Prosecco from Garvies, Beer and Cider from Jaw Brew,  free children’s cake decorating from Honeybee Bakery, Fish and Fizz from Fantoosh Nook and Colpi’s ice cream –  who will be there to celebrate their 90th year of artisan ice cream making (there may even be some tastings of their new flavour!).

Tickets into the fenced festival area gives entry to the bars (with first drink free), an ‘I am not a plastic glass glass’ music and food sampling and family-friendly entertainment.

Milngavie food and drink festivalOutwith the festival area around the town centre, Main street and Douglas Street will include a selection of stalls from Lochnell Native Oysters, Taste of Spain, Deli Zique, Gavin’s Mill, Everything Chilli amongst others. There will also be an array of hot food providers including Fire Dog, Duck Street Food, Oscar’s Woodfired Pizza, Putter Club and Apecini Risotto arancini rice balls.
