2018 BEST OF THE WEST FESTIVAL KITCHEN LINEUP ANNOUNCED

This weekend sees Best of the West Festival (Bowfest) 2018 a family friendly end of season showcase, taking place in the grounds of Inveraray Castle on September 7, 8 & 9, 2018.

The Festival Kitchen, this year sponsored by Loch Fyne Oysters, has proven so popular that capacity has been expanded for 2018. Coinciding with Scotland Food & Drink Fortnight, six top local chefs and Scotland’s first ever National Chef Gary MacLean will be showing off their skills with STV Nightshift and radio presenter Derek McIntyre as compere.

The Festival Kitchen kicks off on Saturday afternoon with Calum Hall, seafood lover and Head Chef of the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar followed by Gordon Wallace Head Chef of the soon to be opened Machrie Hotel & Golf Links on Islay and the talented Graeme Cheevers, who has just taken on a new role as Executive Chef of the stunning Isle of Eriska Hotel.

On Sunday food lovers will be entertained by local chef Andy MacLugash, owner of Inveraray’s Samphire Restaurant followed by Sujitra ‘Eddie’ Scott who brings her characteristic fusion of Scottish ingredients and Thai style to the event.

Proceedings conclude with Scotland’s National Chef and Masterchef: The Professionals 2016 winner Gary Maclean. A passionate advocate of fresh, affordable, locally-sourced produce Gary is a senior lecturer at the City of Glasgow College.

Next to the Festival Kitchen, the food marquee will include familiar “Food from Argyll” names along with invited friends.

Whether looking for something to eat at the festival or to take home, there will be plenty of delicious food and drink from local producers including Winston Churchill Venison, Real Mackay Stovies, Wee Isle Dairy, Shellfield Farm, Aye Love Real Food, Nomad Wood Fired Pizza, Inveraray Castle Tea Room, Loch Fyne, Isle of Skye Baking Company, J.R. Fine Foods, Duntarrin Foods and Coast.

Bowfest 2018 enters its eighth year running with three stages, over 100 musicians, six local celebrity chefs and one amazing castle.

An incredible music line-up is in store with Donnie Munro (Band), Skipinnish, Tide Lines, Seven Nations, Bwani Junction, Heron Valley and many more.
