Edinburgh West End Beer Festival

Edinburgh’s West End to host its first ever Beer Festival from

31st October to 3rd November 2013

From Thursday 31st October ‘til Sunday 3rd November, eight of the West End’s favourite bars are to host the inaugural West End Beer Festival to celebrate some wonderful Scottish craft & cask beers. The festival is timed to coincide with the long-awaited re-launch the West End now that the tram works have been lifted. Edinburgh locals and visitors alike are invited to join the Festival which kicks off on Halloween from 7pm with a fancy dress scavenger hunt led by the ‘Wicked Witch of the West End’.

Local West End brewers Innis & Gunn are sponsoring the event which includes a beer trail running across all eight bars, with prizes available all weekend. The bars taking part in the Festival are Ryan’s Bar, Au Bar, The Huxley, Ghillie Dhu, The Grosvenor, Bert’s Bar, The Melville and Mathers Bar.

Edinburgh locals and visitors alike are invited to come and rediscover the gems of the West End which have been hit hard during recent Tram works. Visitors will enjoy some great Scottish Beers, take part in some fun filled events and activities or just sit back and enjoy some food and drink.

The celebration begins on Halloween at 7pm from Ryan’s Bar with a fancy dress scavenger hunt lead by the ‘Wicked Witch’ of the West End.

Participants of the scavenger hunt and anybody that manages to visit all 8 bars over the course of the weekend will receive a free West End Beer Festival T-shirt.

Michael Apter, Chairman of WEA championed the idea from the beginning;
“The West End Beer Festival is a brilliant opportunity for Edinburgh drinkers to reacquaint themselves with the area after the tram works, and have a scream at Halloween!”

Leila Kean, Innis and Gunn Events & Visitors Manager agrees;
“We may be looking forward to getting in a ghostly mood this Halloween, but for all the bars in the West End, I think they’ll all be in high spirits now that the nightmare is finally over and their customers can walk freely through the streets without having to take huge detours. For them it’s time to celebrate so we’re giving them a helping hand.”
