Eat Cafe, Kilmarnock Road, October & Dec 2011

Looking for a Christmas treat we sauntered down to Eat for something special and filling.  We decided on two large dishes so that we could split them and have a bit of both of the tastes we fancied.   These turned out to be French toast and bacon (£7.50 large, £4.50 small) and Stornoway Stack (£8.50 large and £5.50 small).

Once again, good service, friendly people  and this time it was good to see into the Kitchen.

Both were delicious, however!.  Some more bacon wouldn’t have gone amiss.  I’m happy to say that this was our only gripe (well apart from the price).  Another good meal, but maybe a pay day treat not a weekly brunch.

October 2011 Review

I sneaked a peek into their window and watched what was the sad empty shell next door to Bellini open into a cosy looking cafe.   Eventually we got around to visiting this week.

The decor is homely with a modern twist.  Wood with stone walls.

The staff attended quickly with a clean table and a couple of menus.  The menu consists of  items which are brunch like (eggs benedict) to lunches (sandwiches) and night time eats (gourmet burgers).

We both plumped for the swiss cheese and ham sandwich with chilli marmalade.  One on brown bread and one on white.   Both were delicious.  The only downside was that the chilli marmelade was a bit overpowering so I couldn’t taste the cheese or ham as much as I would have liked.

£5.95 for a sandwich, crisps and a salad.

Friendly service, lovely decor and delicious food.  A little dear for a daily visit, but would love to visit at night to try their later vibe.
