Dining in the Dark Event at The Living Room, Glasgow – Nov 2012

 

 

Inside The Living Room, swish but also not too stuffy.  Seems like a great place to meet after work.  I had been in before waiting to meet friends with a very nice glass of Prosecco.

So we settled down with blindfolds, questions and glasses of water as the staff served us portions of the new menu.

From L-R, Black Forest smoked cured ham and fig with a goats cheese mousse and raspberry and beetroot vinaigrette (£7)  Homemade Glamorgan sausages with a sage and onion soubise, braised lentils and mash (£10)  Pan fried Sea Bass and orange scented broccoli with a lentil casserole.(£15)    Venison “Shepherd’s Pie”( £13.25),     Morrocan spiced lamb with apricots, dates and almonds served with giant cous cous £16.   Duck breast with szechuan pepper and plum chutney, chilli fried bok choi and sweet potato fondant. £16

Clockwise from top: Mini cocktails, Blue Cheese on Crackers, (£8.50 for cheese selection) “Basil Grande” Eton Mess (£4.75)  and Coconut and Passion Fruit Creme Brulee (£4.75)

We also tasted Pork and Chorizo burgers (£10.25) (delicious) and Butternut Squash, Dolcelatte, walnut and honey tart (gorgeous mix of flavours).

 

It is a lot harder than you think, many similar flavours, using your nose to pick out a special hint, too hard for me.

At the end of the night, the answers were totted up and a draw by Pie in Soup and Glasgow Food bloggers. Hurrah!

The food was excellent, I especially liked the vegetarian sausages which says something for meat eater me!  With the bite sized tasters I am eager to return for more.  Service friendly and fun.

Along the way Mark gained WSET Level 2 in Wine and I have WSET Level 2 in Spirits as well as picking up an award with The Scotsman Food and Drink Awards.
