Creedence – July 2012

We picked up a deal voucher for mussels and chips with a glass of white wine for 2 for £10 but when I popped in to reserve a table the place was dead and so the person I spoke to didn’t even take a time for the booking, she just told me to turn up on the day, not a good sign! On the day that we did turn up it was empty again , it was just us and one other table but they seemed to be the manager and owner.

The mussels came in a garlic and white wine broth and were served with thick cut chips, things don’t get any simpler than this, but sometimes the simple things are what you want (when done right), and this was rather tasty. Disappointingly it was a small portion (smaller than what we had in Brel) but as it was a deal perhaps it was smaller than normal. The main downside was the lack of bread to mop up the juices. A glass of white wine also came as part of the deal, I’ve no idea what it was but it was actually pretty good.

We had a quick scan of the regular menu and specials board and found much to our delight – cullen skink for £4.95, seafood bisque for £5.95, salt and chilli squid £7.75 and a half rack of baby ribs for £6.95. So prices are reasonable for seafood in the city centre.

When we left no one else had arrived so I fear Creedence won’t be around much longer, though there are a fair few new positive reviews on Trip Advisor, but best hurry down soon just in case..!

bought a deal for a seafood meal for 2 (surf and turf) through todays daily deals (£34) Deal was bought at the end of September and Creedence was phoned and table booked for Saturday 1 December 2012. Arrived on Saturday night to be told that the reteraunt has closed its doors for good. Not good as the daily deals people will not pay back the £34 paid out. Watch out for this one!
