Coco Reef Resort, Crown Point, Tobago Review

coco reef tobago review

Beach front hotel with private lagoon

Tobago is a beautiful island with a mixture of rainforests, beaches and historical sites. Whilst visiting Tobago for a familiarisation trip organised by Visit Tobago and British Airways, our group spent some time at Coco Reef Resort. The resort has a stunning setting at the beachfront in the town of Crown Point. It’s minutes away from the ANR Robinson International Airport, but you wouldn’t think that as I didn’t notice any aeroplane noise. The capital city of Scarborough is about 5 miles away if you want to discover more of the area.

The resort reminded me of Colonial-style buildings that I’ve seen in films. Large and well-kept gardens surround the buildings.

Inside, the decor is…how shall we say, eclectic? I was having flashbacks to sitting in art class looking at some of the portraits! It actually looks a bit like a set from an 80s/90s American sitcom too!

Here is the view from the breakfast area, just after a storm which chased away some of the humidity and left a picture-worthy rainbow behind.

Bedroom

What a view! Just what you need after the long flight from the UK.

Inside the bedroomSo the decor isn’t the most up-to-date but its clean, looked after and well, I’m here for the view not the curtains and artwork! I had a sea-view balcony, so step outside…balcony with table and chairs

…where you can sit, admire the view and you may meet an avian friend!

Warm welcome to your room

They do a good job at welcoming you. Facilities-wise there is air conditioning, a separate bath and shower room, kettle, minibar and WiFi (though this was a bit hit and miss).

Beach

Coco Reef Resort has a private beach and lagoon area for swimming in. A sheltered cove in fact, it was peaceful and the ideal place to have a morning dip. This was the beach at 7am and it was already 27°C in October!

The lagoon was shallow and appeared to be at a gradual depth so it wasn’t too scary. Fish and some crabs were swimming about at the edges.

Overall

The decor is dated, but it’s clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helped with baggage without being asked. The main draw here is the stunning beach/lagoon area and the view, as well as the proximity to the international airport. There are restaurants and bars on-site, plus just outside the resort are more facilities if you need them.
