With temperatures rising, the team at Waitrose & Partners has given the summer staple, the Aperol Spritz, a tasty twist with two fresh new recipes on waitrose.com

Waitrose Aperol froze cocktail Recipe The famous Italian aperitif, known for its bright orange hue and refreshing bittersweet taste, has been given an icy edge as an Aperol Frozé and transformed into a fruity and fragrant Orange, Aperol & Rosemary Sangria

John Vine, Spirits Buyer at Waitrose & Partners said, “Iconically vibrant, the Aperol Spritz is a classic cocktail that shouts ‘summer’. These new cocktails share the same bright sunny colour whilst adding an exciting new twist – perfect to enjoy alfresco and get into the holiday mood.”

Here is the recipe for Aperol Frozé

Aperol Frozé

Ingredients

250ml Aperol
250ml fresh orange juice
60ml fresh lemon juice
700ml sparkling rosé wine
1 orange, sliced, for garnish

Method

Mix the Aperol with the orange and lemon juice, and top with 240ml sparkling rose wine. Pour into a shallow dish and freeze for 2 ½ -3 hours, stirring the mixture with a fork every 30 minutes until the mixture resembles shaved ice,

To serve place a generous scoop into glasses, then top with 60ml sparkling rosé and garnish with an orange slice
