Budding chefs

Budding Chefs is now entering it’s fourth year. It is an exchange programme which has been initiated by the Institut francais d’Ecosse and Fred Berkmiller of L’escargot restaurants.

Chefs, from both sides of the channel,learn about each other’s ingredients and gain hands on experience of a busy kitchen.

There are two events taking place at The Hub in Edinburgh on Saturday 22 March.

The first being a series of talks with guests including top Edinburgh chefs Craig Sandle and Tom Kitchi.

Tickets cost £12 and are valid for all talks. Ticket holders are invited to drop in to see one, a few or all of them. A bar is open all day.

The highlight of the exchange trip takes place on the Saturday evening when the budding chefs will cook a five course menu devised by Mssrs Berkmiller and Sandle.

Hello!

I am Emma and with my husband Mark write Foodie Explorers, which is a food and travel website.

I am a member of the Guild of Food Writers and British Guild of Travel Writers.

We have a wide range of judging experience covering products, hotels and have judged, for example, for Great Taste Awards and Scottish Baker of the Year.

Along the way Mark gained WSET Level 2 in Wine and I have WSET Level 2 in Spirits as well as picking up an award with The Scotsman Food and Drink Awards.    

Usually I can be found sleeping beside a cat.
