Bruschetta, 9 Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow – Aug 2012 ***CLOSED***

Picked this one for a lunch time get-together.   Looked good from the outside and inside too.

However this changed once we’d got our food.

The lasagne was full of pasta – I think the mince was over the road.  My dining partner commented that he wasn’t too sure if he was enjoying it! – in fact he enjoyed it that much he left half. (£8.95)

I went for the Penne Carbonara (£9.50).  Really for £9.50 I’d expect some freshly grated Parmasan.  It certainly didn’t look like it in the dish.

The sauce was overcooked and the bacon…..not much of it there.

£2.45 each for soda and lime and a cola making it £23.15 for what was a below average lunch.

Well, if I can suggest you the right recepie needs PECORINO cheese in the CARBONARA, not PARMIGIANO and you wan’t see it ( but you will taste it !) because it’s already mixed with the egg and pepper.
We only use onion with chopped bacon and NO cream ( just egg blended with Pecorino cheese and pepper).
I hope you’ll find other restaurants that can cook ..Italian !
    : )

All of you who jump to their defence… Read my experience today…

I purchased two vouchers for a pizza or pasta dish and glass of wine for two people from http://www.livingsocial.com as a treat for myself and my mum and also myself and my partner on a different occasion… I read reviews of the restaurant before purchasing and thougt it sounded like a lovely family run business and seemed a good deal. I finally managed to get a hold of them on the phone yesterday after trying to book a table at a time that was convenient for me (and not a time and date that suited the waitress best?!?) and redeemed one voucher…booking a table for today (4 Jan 2013). Went with my mum for lunch at 12noon today and I have to say it was the most horrible dining experience of our lives!! First of all we went in and the waitress was on the phone. We waited for around ten mins while she spoke on the phone and went outside to have a cigarette before she even gave us a menu. We chose calzone and when the order was put into the kitchen a man came in enquiring about a chefs position who was sent straight into the kitchen to speak to the chef. Around ten mins later our food came, which was still raw dough when it arrived at the table and tasted disgusting! The only other time we saw the waitress was when she came to take away the plates… In between using the phone to make personal calls. We were out and half way up the road by half past twelve after eating the inside fillings of the calzone which was making us feel sick. We did not feel able to tell the obnoxious, and very intimidating waitress that our meal was unsatisfactory, but given we hardly touched it she should have noticed and asked us how we were? I have never paid money for a meal before and been dissatisfied with both food and service. I purchased two of these vouchers as reviews I had read were very good. I am NOT prepared to visit again to redeem my other voucher as I wouldn’t feed that rubbish to an animal!! The recent reviews on trip advisor from people who also had living social vouchers have been reports of appalling service and food. Maybe it was an off day… But I certainly won’t be back again to find out!!

that sounds awful, and worse as you have bought two of these vouchers. You could try getting onto living social to get your money back. Hope you both feel better soon too 🙁

Booked a meal at Bruschetta by phone on Tuesday night, phone was picked up on 3 rings , being a good service snob, that’s what I’d expect.
Friday evening arrived and was greeted by staff who took my coat and showed myself and friend to our table. I ordered the Bruschetta topped with mozzarella and my friend ordered pâté, both were absolutely delicious and plentiful.
Dinner was delicious, chicken Milanese and Pollo Smirnoff, again, delicious! Stuffed full and great service! Don’t understand the bad reviews at all, had a delightful and pleasant, delicious meal and will definetly return.

I bought one voucher from living social. It was a 2 course meal for 2 people with a Bellini cocktail. It was one of the nicest meals I have had in a long time. Would definitely go back and thoroughly recommend.

My husband and I went to bruschettas for our lunch on sat 27th july we had a very bad experience, the waiter cleaned our table before we sat down, he cleaned it with a dirty cloth disgusting, he was very rude so was the waitress, we ordered our starter off pate it was disgusting I could have poured it onto the bread it was like water, my husband told the waitress who then told the waiter he came over to our table got into my husbands face and said I think you have got an attitude problem, ive never seen the likes off that in my life, the chef was disgusting aswell he looked like he had been dragged around the streets with his work clothes on he was filthy, I will never go back there, it was our first time and will be our last. The staff need some training on customer service, very bad not impressed.
