Discover DO RUEDA
Situated on the River Duero to the west of Spain’s renowned red wine vineyards and high on the plains, lies Spain’s White Wine Country DO Rueda.
An often-overlooked region, with cold winters and hot summers, produces hardy vines. Rueda is where the indigenous grape Verdejo hails from and produces a variety of truly tempting styles. Sauvignon Blanc is also grown here and there is a superb selection of four wines to enjoy during this tasting.
We’ll be virtually visiting Bodegas Naia, where winemaker Eulogio Calleja creates wines with great depth. We’ll be tasting 3 wines from here including a Sauvignon Blanc, a blend of Verdejo with a small amount of Sauvignon Blanc and a wonderful 100% Verdejo with some lees ageing.
The second producer we’ll be virtually visiting is Diez Siglos. It’s a collective of around 70 small to medium growers, many of whom have been producing wine here for generations.
Tickets for this unique experience are £44 which includes the 4 wines, delivered by Great Grog to your door if you’re in Edinburgh (or £10 elsewhere) and a truly special evening of discovery.
How Does the Tasting Work?
When you place your order, you’ll receive a case of the 4 full bottles of wines by Monday 22 March. The tasting will start at 7 pm and will last about an hour. You’ll be more than welcome to ask any questions and feedback is encouraged.
The aim is that it’s a relaxed, enjoyable, informal and informative evening. The app we’ll be using is Zoom so if you don’t already have it, please download it here. Please note only one order per household is required – providing of course you’re happy to share the wines and the PC screen!
