Bautzner Tor, Hoyerswerdaer Str, Dresden – Jul 2012

We picked up a map in our hostel for “young people” and this pub piqued our interest with its GDR style description.

Located in neustadt the bar is a quirky mix of tables, seats and styles.  A large selection of beer is on offer, many local  micro brewed.  The guide recommended their Lenin beer, unfortunately it was out of stock so we plumped for Elbhang Rot (4.7% – €1.50), Bio Neustadt Hell (4.9% €1.80) and Dresden Cider (2.5% €1.90).  All went down very well.

We supplemented our beer with some cheap, hearty pub fare.

wedges with quark

sausage and potatoes

For dessert some “live” ales.  Hecht Alt and Hufeisnnase – both sweet summer ales.  Very nice.

Sort of place you could take a book, discuss the world or watch a band in.  Recommended.
