Bar Varia, Xscape, Braehead,Renfrew

An impromptu lunch led us to Bar Varia at Snowscape,  Braehead.  I had heard from friends that this was a good place to go to – food, beer and German!

Finding the entrance was a little confusing, go to the upper level and enter the area which looks like you are going snow boarding.

Inside are tables, lots of tables – this is beer drinking country.  We picked a table and were served quickly with another menu.

The sharing platter caught our eye and the waitress said they were good.

We decided on the Bayern Platter, Bratwurst, Bockwurst, Knackwurst with sauerkraut, Potato Salad, Dips and Fries.

After a short wait, drooling over the beers (sadly driving) our platter arrived. (beer list can be found here)

The sausages were a hit, proper currywurst sauce to dip with and wholegrain mustard.  The potato salad was also good, no hard bits here.

We had a little look about at the decor and found some interesting posters.

Overall, quick service, good price (remember the 10% off platters Monday to Wednesday), good food and somewhere to keep an eye on the kids snowboarding or to watch the show offs.

Just so you know im pretty sure the sauerkraut is the bit under the sausages. It tasted like it to me anyways.

It is indeed! Changed now as the sauerkraut was snaffled by my friend.
