Airbräu brewmaster turns beer into high quality beer gin

20/09/2021 by Emma

Creative use of surplus beer at  Munich airport brewery

The Corona crisis caused beer taps to stop pouring worldwide but what to do with the beer? Munich Airport’s Airbräu brewery brewmaster René Jacobsen developed a gin-style beer spirit under the brand name "Mountain Hub Distillers" in cooperation with the Hilton Munich Airport Hotel.

He distilled the Airbräu beer with selected botanicals which has resulted in a rich and aromatic "infused beer spirit", which combines the taste of strong beer and high-percentage juniper aromas.

The "infused beer spirit" is now available at Munich Airport's Airbräu, the Mountain Hub restaurants and the Hilton Bar.
