Where to celebrate International Scotch Day in Glasgow

International Scotch Day is an initiative of Diageo who will be celebrating the birthday of Alexander Walker (Pioneer of Johnnie Walker whisky) by celebrating all things Scotch (shame they couldn’t keep their site in Kilmarnock where it originated!).

Anyway, I digress, here are 8 places in Glasgow where you can get yourself a whisky and celebrate Scotch whisky day.

1. The Pot Still

A firm favourite for visitors and locals alike (you may find myself and Mr Foodie in there sometimes…) The Pot Still serves a shed load of whiskies and is one of the friendliest pubs in the city centre. The Pot Still

2. Hutchesons

If you like Glenfarclas whisky then Hutchesons is for you.  They sell all of the Glenfarclas whiskies and are seemingly the only place in the UK to do so. Hutchesons Bar & Brasserie in the Merchant City.

3. The Wee Pub at The Chip

The wee brother of The Ubiquitous Chip is just around the corner off Ashton Lane, despite its size this is a place where you’ll find a large variety of water of life, just don’t try and drink them all! The Wee Pub at the Chip

4. Oran Mor

This former church across from the botanic gardens is an ideal place to worship whisky on this day.  They have a whisky bar with over 280 malts. Oran Mor

5. The Ben Nevis

Another old favourite of ours is The Ben Nevis in Finnieston.  Helpful staff and a large variety of whisky and beer. Dog friendly too. The Ben Nevis

6. The Bon Accord

The Bon Accord is usually known for its real ale, but it’s also a great place for a whisky.  Not as often a stop off for us as we would like, but a recommended one and handy if visiting the Mitchell library. The Bon Accord

7. Dram!

Previously known as uisge beatha, Dram in Woodlands is a lot more modern than its previous incarnation but you’ll still find a big selection of malts to keep you happy. DRAM!

8. The Lismore Bar

Yet another Mr & Mrs Foodie favourite.  A great selection of whiskies are on offer in this Patrick pub with live music as well. The Lismore
